let's talk about tips

I'm very curious about what is considered good tips by hairdressers, nail people & so on. And for that matter what you consider to be good tipping.

Let's say you pay

$42 haircut-by the same person every time

$15 waxing-not the same person

$45 pedicure-" "

$60 massage-" "


What would your tips be for those people if you are a)not thrilled, b)satisfied, c) love everything about the service

Is there a scale that should be used as with food service?


ETS-please add other things & what your tip would be if you feel comfortable.

20% always...more if someone does an awesome job. For your prices, I would do:

$10 for the cut (double the 4 and add a little)

$3 or $4 for the wax


$10 for a good pedicure, $12 if I LOVED it/person took time

$15 for a great massage

I usually go with the 20% rule (+I round up) ~ if I have fabulous service or really love the haircut of massage then i will give a little more

$45 pedicure-" " = $10.00 +

$60 massage-" " = $15.00 +

I hope the people i tip are happy! sometimes I am not sure... I become self cousious I don't think i tip good or I should give more...

I agree with the 20%... and sometimes add a couple extra dollars.

Ok so I give the 20% or a little more but sometimes I feel like the person is just not thrilled with it....if I'm not over the top thrilled with service I give an average tip-like $12 on a $42 haircut.
I was just wondering if people are way more generous than me & that's why I feel cheap when the hairdresser or nail person doesn't seem thrilled with my tip.
