Let's talk Santa [w/poll]
For those of you who celebrate Christmas, I am just curious as to what happens in your house when it comes to Santa.
Does Santa bring your child the 'big' present, and you give the small presents?
or
Do YOU give your child the 'big' present, and Santa brings the little presents?
(by 'big' present, I mean the more costly item/s)
Just curious. Thanks ladies

Re: Let's talk Santa [w/poll]
DD is only 3 & a half months so it doesn't apply yet but that's a good question. I don't know what we will do. I think Santa will bring the small gifts & the big gifts will be from us.

Re: Let's talk Santa [w/poll]
My kids just turned 1 so we havent dealt with it yet but growing up I got both big and small presents from both Santa and my parents so Im assuming it will probably be the same with our kids.

Re: Let's talk Santa [w/poll]
DS is 15 months so I'm trying to figure this out now so we can stay consistent lol - Part of me wants Santa to bring the big present because he's Santa! lol - but then part of me thinks the parents should bring the big present so my son can appreciate things that are given by us so he knows not to just expect a big present every year. Idk. There should be a rule book!

Re: Let's talk Santa [w/poll]
Santa brings big and small presents. After Santa's presents are done, we eat breakfast. After breakfast, present(s) from us. Big present is down in the basement....something to look forward to after opening stocking and stack of gifts. (This is what we did as kids and I LOVED it.)

Re: Let's talk Santa [w/poll]
Santa for everything...honestly until LIF i NEVER heard of doing anything else..one from mom and dad...one from Santa. to me it seems odd. i don't care if my kids knows it's from me or not bc one day he/she is not going to even believe in Santa anymore so i hate to even get in the way of the childhood belief and fun of it. but that's just my feeling and experience. plus it's just easier for me that way.

Re: Let's talk Santa [w/poll]
We believe that the kids get 2-3 BIG gifts, 1-2 from Santa and 1 from us (we give the HUGE, OMG! gift). All the smaller ones are split between Santa and us.

Re: Let's talk Santa [w/poll]
Santa brings several things, but the "big" present is from mommy and daddy.
My DH grew up with this tradition and really wanted to do it with our kids. I grew up having all the gifts be from Santa, but I enjoy this way too, so I was fine with it.

Re: Let's talk Santa [w/poll]
My kids won't even be one yet but growing up santa brought all the gifts except one gift for the 3 kids to share. It was usually a big gift or a unique gift that all of us would enjoy and play with together.

Re: Let's talk Santa [w/poll]
Growing up we got all but one present from Santa. My mom would sign my parents name to one present. There was never really any rhyme or reason, although I think the year she was actually able to score Cabbage Patch Kids she signed her name to them.
I usually do every present from santa. The kids can't read yet so they don't know what's written on the tags. Maybe as they get older I'll sign our names to a couple of gifts.

Growing up, Santa gave us the toys and my parents gave us the clothes...my husband and I will follow this tradition and do the same!
