Letting my almost 3 year old pick out clothes- crazy?

So my DD is a HUGE pain when it comes to getting her dressed. I picked out so many cute things for her, mostly last fall, and getting her to wear anything was a challenge. She inisisted that she didn't like ANYTHING I bought her.

I was in Gymboree before and thought about getting her some spring things, but then I wondered if I'd be better off if she chose some stuff. She loves dresses, mostly.

Crazy? I feel like I'd be removing one of her arguments if I was able to say, "Well, you picked this out, remember?"

I don't think its a bad idea. My 3 year old almost always insists on wearing a dress and I do let her pick those out from her closet, although you should see what she is wearing today! Will she be able to remember that she picked it out though when you say to her - remember you picked it? If so, then go for it!

As long as she is dressed for the weather, who cares if it matches? We let DC pick out their clothes all the time. As long as they are happy, who cares? Sometimes, they have a better sense of fashion than we do....

Look at what Lady GaGa wears, and she's famous for it! Maybe DC will become famous for the outfits she comes up with...

if it works? not crazy at all!! as long as she doesn't wind up looking like a bag lady or totally out of season but i will CRY the day my DD starts to have an opinion about her clothes! one of the things i love love the most is picking out her clothing! i know the day is coming soon when she is going to wise up but i am going to fight to the death as long as i can to pick her clothing! yeah, we'll see how that goes!

DS dresses himself everday as soon as he wakes up He will freak out if I pick out his clothes......"NOOO I DONT LIKE THAT"
90% of his wardrobe is bought by me and I like what he has. I try to keep the stuff I am not too crazy about on the bottom of the drawer

DD gave me her first meltdown over her outfit the other day, when we were trying to dress her & my niece in cute coordinating outfits for pics She outright refused to keep the outfit on (screaming fit!!!) for NO reason other than to be stubborn.

I say let her. I understand what you are going through. My 2 year old DD is heading down this path... sooooo picky at only 2! So maybe having her pick up what she likes will help the getting dressed process.

I match up all of DD's outfits (tops and bottoms) and then let her choose from two or three that I narrow down to. If she doesn't like any of them, I offer her only a few more. She has nice taste so far and actually peeks over my shoulder when I am looking online for clothes for her and will ask if it is available her size I can't wait to shop with her when she is a little older.

In response to whether or not you are crazy, no! Let her choose. She will feel like she has more control.

I don't think its crazy. I will let my DC pick out their clothes at that age if they want to.

Give it a shot!! She will probably love it and maybe you can throw in some things that you like too?

When I was three, my dad was picking out my clothes with me upstairs in my room and he came stomping down the stairs and told my mom "I refuse to do this anymore, I am not fighting with a three year old. You have to pick out her clothes with her now"

Apparently I told him he didn't know what he was talking about b/c he was a boy and boys didn't know how to match

I let DD pick out her clothes every morning...although it does take me longer to get her to actually pick something herself, it saves the screaming about how she doesn't like that or want to wear it. I have been trying to teach her about "matching" So now, when she picks out a shirt and pants she will say "it matches?" and if I say no, she will pick something else. Then she has to pick matching socks and shoes

If it works for you then do it. As for us it is what I dress her in she will wear.
