Level 2 Follow Up
Dr. H said that it was requested that I go back because when I had my Level 2 they couldn't get all the pictures they needed of the baby's heart.
They said that the heart looks Normal - but that there were limited shots they could get - and want me to go back for more.
Do you think this is something I should be worried about? Dr. H said that it is normal and that happens when they can't get all the pictures they need.
I made my appt. for Monday - I just don't want to flip out until then.

Re: Level 2 Follow Up
Don't worry at all
It has nothing to do with the health of the baby and everything to do about the position.
For example, my was fairly uncooperative yesterday. He is laying sideways (transverse) with his head on his sister's stomach while she is head down (vertex). While she has been very easy to get pics of alll along, he hasn't been. For a while he was head down but facing my back... that sono all we could really get was his feet. Yesterday, it was difficult to get an accurate measurement of his head in this new position so the growth estimate for him isn't as accurate as it could be. The tech had me move in a variety of positions and he still wasn't cooperating.
Don't worry. Some days they choose positions that make it difficult for even the most expereinced tech to get accurate pics.

Re: Level 2 Follow Up
As above poster said, don't worry! Especially since your Dr. said not to worry, everything was ok!
I've heard on here that a good number of girls have to go back for another Level II, because baby wasn't fully cooperating and some part/s of baby were not able to be accurately measured. This is the test where they want to measure baby's overall growth, so if they can't get all measurements, they make you come back.
Think of it as another time to see your little one, and to get more pictures maybe!

Re: Level 2 Follow Up
Thanks! I am trying not to freak out because I really had her look at the heart when I was there - since my cousin who just lost the baby a few months ago had issues with the heart.
She was just having a hard time getting pictures.
It's just so scary to think of all that can go wrong.
And how cute - he has his head resting on her stomach!!! That is adorable!!!!

I had the exact same problem. Baby would not show his heart. I have to go back next Monday too.
Where are you going? I have Dr. H too.

I think they just wanted to make sure they have all things covered. I wouldn't take it as a bad sign! Plus you get to see your little one again!

Re: Level 2 Follow Up
Nothing to worry about, the same thing happened to me. I went at 17 weeks and had to go back at 20 weeks so they could look at the heart again....everything was fine, the heart was just too small at 17 weeks for them to get the pics they needed

oh really - so I guess this is pretty common! I go to the Madonna Services right on Old Country Rd. by Dr. H's office.

Re: Level 2 Follow Up
I would not worry, it is quite common for them to have to do the Level II during two sessions. Especially in the heart, if they cannot get a very specific area then the results are considered not complete.
Plus you get to see your little one again

Re: Level 2 Follow Up
nothing at all to worry about. my level 2 took 2 1/2 hours and they still didn't get all the measurements. baby a was curled up and not moving enough and baby b was all over the place. i went back the next week for another long appt and they finally got all the measurements that were needed.
enjoy the extra sonogram!!
