Level II last Friday - UPDATED 12:45PM!
Edited to Update and shorten post:
After the sono was done, the doc from this other office comes in and tells me that there is a possibility that I COULD have a condition called Velamentous cord insertion (the umbilical cord doesn't attach "well" to the mass of the placenta, but rather just to the membranes surrounding it which will limit the growth and nutrition of the baby and could cause serious problems before and during delivery). They couldn't tell conclusively from the pictures so I have to go back in for another sono in 6 weeks. Bottom line is - they said they aren't SURE. It's possible that everything is perfectly fine and they just had a bad angle from the pic - but it's also possible that this IS the reality and I dont even know exactly what that means for me or the baby. I have my monthly check up with MY OB office next Friday (Sept 19) so I dont know if i should wait until then to have the doc explain it to me or if i should call and speak to someone sooner. What would you girls do? I'm sorry, I know this is very long and if you've made it this far - thank you so much for reading my worries. And please, if you have experience with this condition first hand, please FM me.
Please God, let be okay.
UPDATE 12:45pm
And THIS is why I love my doctors office: I got a call back from one of the nurses at my OB office. She was wonderful and put me totally at ease. I feel SO much better about it now. Here's what she said: In most cases, only a small portion of the cord is attached to the membranes and the majority of the cord is attached firmly to the placenta. Sometimes the doctors dont even know until after they examine the placenta post partum that this was even the situation. The baby will still receive all his nutrients and will grow beautifully. In the worst case scenario, called a vasal previa (sp?), the entire cord is attached solely to the membrane of the placenta. The concern here would be ruptured membranes and that would occur during labor. If this is the case, the doctors would know this well in advance and would schedule a C-section 2 weeks before my due date to try and avoid me going into labor and get the baby out safely. Even in this case, the baby will grow properly and receive all his nutrition. AMEN Thank you to all the girls who shared their concern and advice. I'm so glad i called the doctor!

Re: Level II last Friday - sorry, VERY long
Well firstly welcome to team blue!!
And I would call your doctor and speak to them, it can't hurt and it may put your worrying to rest, or your doctor may want to see you sooner. You really don't know unless you call.
I'll be praying for your little guy, and hope everything is ok!

Re: Level II last Friday - sorry, VERY long
I think you should call your OB if it makes you feel better. I am sure Dr. D will give you some answers that will help relieve your anxieties and maybe even answer some questions. It can't hurt to call. That's why they are there!
On a side note, as a friend who has been going through this experience with you...I can't stand you insurance company!!! It drives me insane that each time you go in for a sono you have a problem with some idiot tech or a dr. that can't take the time to explain to you and your DH what the heck is going on!!! I know there is nothing you can do about it but GEEZ!!! What a PITA!!!
One more thing...WELCOME TO TEAM BLUE!!! Our boys will have so much fun together (If mine ever comes out....)!!!

I think you should call your doctor and discuss the results. Don't wait until Friday, you will drive yourself crazy.

Congratulations on your !
I agree with all the other posters. Please call your doctor. Do not wait. There is no point in being upset until your appointment rolls around.

I'm so sorry you are going thru this. I'm glad you called the doc.
Now that there is a potential "issue" is it possible that your doc could code the sonos differently so they can be covered in his office? I truly hate insurance companies.
Welcome to team blue!!

Re: Level II last Friday - UPDATED 12:45PM!
You know I'm a stalker so I came on to see if you posted before I leave for my appointment. All I have to say is YAY !!!!!! I'm so happy that they were able to answer your questions and give you CORRECT info rather than some random dr saying "it COULD be this...or it COULD be that..." I am so happy they called you back and you feel better!!!
PS-It is in situations like this that I hate insurance companies even more. You would have had this answer from a dr. you trust on Friday if they were able to give you your Level II in the office. What a bunch of crap
