L.I Festival of Races

I know a few girls on here are running in it (mostly the half).

Back in October I signed up for the half (figured I'd get in my money right away while it was only $40). As some of you have probably already seen, I've developed runner's knee and have been sidelined from running for almost 2 months now. I don't think I want to push a half marathon that quickly after recovery (assuming I'm recovered by then!) My dad said he thinks I can just change my race at the expo.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm thinking I'll do either the 5k the day before or the 10k.

In the past, they have allowed this. I even remember the day when they let you decide on the course if you wanted to change and do the full from the half or vice versa. That, I do not think they allow you to do anymore, but I bet if you e-mail them, they would let you change to the 10k or the 5k.

I think you're doing the right thing. In my opinion, although LI is definitely a flat course with PR potential, there are better half marathons out there. In addition to Diva, there is the Entenmanns in Bay Shore, which is my favorite. It's the same weekend as Diva, so you'd most likely do one or the other.

I hope your knee gets better. You're a lot younger than me, so believe me when I say you have many years to run races, although I know you're disappointed.

this happened to a friend of mine last year. she was able to switch from the half to the 10k, but did not get a refund (the woman who helped her gave her a hard time, but either way, she was able to switch)

Does anyone know if they allow transfers? Like if I could sell my bib to someone?

I don't even now if I would sign up for the 5 or the 10k though. It depends if and when I heal by then!
