LI teachers- ineffective and developing?
I was rated effective/highly effective in NYC and never received a developing or ineffective ever! now I"m in a LI school, and have had 4 observations with a mix of everything from ineffective to highly effective. overall, 3 of my observations average out to effective and 1 averaged out to developing.
Is it more typical on Long Island to get harsher write-ups for your lessons? It's pretty discouraging, and I feel like I am not in a position to argue back because I'm untenured.

I feel like my district is rough too! Writing up such nonsense IMO. I'm also untenured and can't say a thing. I feel like they are nit picking on LI as opposed to the city.

I haven't yet (knock on wood) but I keep hearing about many other teachers complaining about it. Mind you, these other teachers are tenured smh... So crazy. Don't worry... It is what it is and you'll always be where you're meant to be.

Re: LI teachers- ineffective and developing?
I think it depends on the district how common they give out developings and ineffectives. In my LI district, I know of both new and experienced teachers receiving developings. I would ask trusted colleagues if it's common to get below effectives in your district. Since you're in your first year I really wouldn't worry yet.

I would not be concerned if you have 3 effectives and 1 developing. During your next observations, try to focus on the areas that you did not receive high marks.
