Library Media Specialist

I currently hold professional certification in childhood and early childhood education. I am currently going for my second master's in Library and Information Science, and have done everything that allows me to apply for supplemental library certification while I finish, except for the school district recommendation (essentially getting a job). I also have a year experience as a library media specialist (elementary).

If anyone knows of any openings across the island or in Queens, I would greatly appreciate it. I would prefer elementary because I have no experience in MS or HS. Thanks!

Can I ask how many classes did you need to get this certification? I am interested in going for it as well. Also, which college did you go to for it?

For supplemental certification (which is three years while I finish), it was passing the CST, 12 credits, and cert in something else.

30 credits and a practicum for the full certification.

I wound up going back for the full master's (my second) because with 30 credits I'm almost there. I'm doing it through Clarion University of PA's online program. The state told me I wouldn't have to student teach again since I already did it.
