Lice outbreak in our district
I know I haven't been on much lately. Once we got power back school started and our schedule is insane with all the extra-curriculars.
Just wanted to share that one of the elementary schools in our district has a bad lice situation right now, so you might want to keep an eye on your kids and remind them not to share hats, combs, headbands, etc.

What district?
I heard that ours (Lindenhurst) had a bad situation last year with lice, but no letters or anything were ever sent home!! Are they at least keeping the parents informed?

Wantagh.
We didn't get anything home, I've heard it from multiple parents in that school at sports events.

Re: Lice outbreak in our district
It happens in all schools multiple times a year. They only send notices to families in the class and maybe the siblings class.
One great line of defense for long hair is putting it up in a ponytail.
Now im itchy, but I have to remember that lice go behind the ears and nape of neck

Rosemary shampoo is a live deterrent. Suave and Fairytales make one. I've been spraying my kids down with Fairytales leave in before they leave for school.

Ditto!
I've been using Fairy Tales on my DD since she started school at age 3. Her hair was super long, although we just cut it a lot shorter!
My kids school came home with a note that there was a child treated for lice. They wouldn't say which grade (it's a school that goes from Pre-K to 8th!). I am a little miffed they wont tell us what grade!

Re: Lice outbreak in our district
This is the second year my sons class has had a problem with lice, the note that came home today said a couple of cases have brought to the attention. Last friday the 7th I brought my son in last (orthropedic) and half his class was in the nurses office having their heads check, just got a note home today.

Re: Lice outbreak in our district
Fairytales I order a big bottle online - shampoo, conditioner & the leave in conditioning spray.
You can price shop it but I go straight to the website: http://www.fairytaleshaircare.com/

Re: Lice outbreak in our district
Remember- Lice like CLEAN hair... so don't wash hair every day. Also- product- whether it's the lice deterrent (a Tea Tree/Lavender version is sold at Darlings & Divas of Amityville) or hair gel, mousse, etc... put product in to make the hair a little dirty.
