Lily of the valley
Is this a flower that spread and grows more and more year after year?
We have some planted outside our front door (it was there prior to us moving in) and I was curious as to how it grows and if should add more to fill in spots.

It does spread. I think it's best in containers to control it.

Re: Lily of the valley
Yes, I think it's considered an invasive plant because it will spread fairly rapidly. We had a handful of sprouts coming under the fence from our neighbor's yard last year, and lots of them this year. Fortunately, I love them, they are coming in an area that was bare and needs some greenery and I was planning to plant some anyway. I think they are much easier to control than Ivy and other invasives.

I have some that's actually behaving. On one side of it is the driveway and on the other side is my huge hydrangea, not sure if that's why it hasn't taken over yet. But after reading those responses last year, I decided against growing them.

Re: Lily of the valley
For such pesky little suckers they're gorgeous.
To be honest, I'm not really too concerned with them spreading as they don't really have a ton of options as to where to go, but I'm glad that I won't have to plant more to fill in spots.
Thanks!

Re: Lily of the valley
I have established lily of the valley (about 6 years old) and it is a little thicker, but still just the border that was originally planted. I have not found it to be this incredible overtaking plant that others have described it to be.
