Re: LIPA Bill negative balance due
Yes, but I had balanced billing. I had a negative balance because I overpaid in previous months. I would assume the same is true for your situation.

Re: LIPA Bill negative balance due
yea i dont have balance billing. it's just weird that they keep "overbilling me" one month and then the next month I don't have a bill.

Re: LIPA Bill negative balance due
LIPA only reads the meter every other month, so they are estimating your bill on the off month.

it could be the estimate - check the back and see what the actual vs estimate reading was.
I had a negative balance from keyspan b/c of some payback program - not really sure - but I didn't complain.

Re: LIPA Bill negative balance due
Yes. the reason is because for at least the first six months they estimate based on the use of the past owners. Every other month they do a reading and then adjust what you paid (estimated) from the actual. We actually had a HUGE bill our first month and then didn't have to pay for two months afterwards because what we used was WAYYYYY less than the estimate of the past owners.
I called LIPA and they were really nice about explaining to me.
I freaked out when I saw a bill for June and it was $600 and it was only me, DH and 18 month old - never home.
Same with Keyspan.
