LIPA bills
Were your summer bills a lot more than last year?
FH shares a meter with the guy upstairs and he said the bill is too high and is trying to blame FH, and I just don't think that's possible. Because of that he stopped using the AC for the entire month of september and the bill was STILL high.

My entire building has had problems this summer. LIPA was at our building practically everyday rechecking everyone's meters and apts. If you saw someone in the elevator they would give you the heads up that LIPA was in the building and you should snag them to check your meter. I'm sorry but we have a two bedroom apt and we had a $700 bill for August. Nuts. I hate AC, so I didn't have it on much plus we both work all day...something is wrong. Also, there have been alot of articles in the paper, seems many people feel they were being overcharged this summer.

Thanks for letting me know. It just seemed wrong.
FH has ONE air conditioner in a 1 BR apt and he is never home.
And the guy is trying to say he owes him $100 extra a month (on top of the 50-100 he usually pays) and I was like "NO WAY"

Please... do not even get me started wit LIPA... the costs are ASTRONOMICAL.
I have central A/C and my bill in August was $530 Dollars... I had a hissy fit....
I lived up state, in a house slightly larger, with central A/C and NEVER saw a bill go over $275.
They are criminals!!!!

IS there anything we can do about it ? Are there any articles documenting the price changes? EVen if I have something to show the guy upstairs or the landlord that it's not FH's fault

It's the darn surcharges!! The surcharge itself is almost 50% of my bill. On the back of the bill it shows actual useage. Our useage has gone down since last year, but the total bill has gone up because of the surcharge. Just another way for LIPA to get you in the end........

I am on LIPA's budget plan (we pay the same amount all year round) and the payments recently went up from $102 to $119 for Oct, Nov & Dec.
we have CAC in a 1 bed apt.
