DH and I both commute and believe strongly in using public transportation when it is an option; it is one of the huge draws of NY/LI. But now it is almost silly to pay to live some place when the cost of commuting to work is almost prohibitive.

Thanks to the poster that suggested writing letters/emails to our senators and local officials... I just sent mine out!

You'll be Zones 1 - 7 I believe. That means you can travel anywhere between these zones for the same money. But if you go past Massapequa Park to Amityville, that's Zone 9, so you'll pay a step up fair.
