Listen to this! ( insurance related)

As many of you know I work for Empire BCBS...Well today I was trained on a new account. All Suffolk County employees will have Empire starting 11/1...Over 100,000 people..WELL...Their Infertility coverage is AMAZING!

They get ( get ready.....................)

3 IIVF cycles PER YEAR! AND full coverage, no deductibles, co pays etc...AND full coverage for sperm banking or egg freezing for 6 months!!! No maxium lifetime limit or anything...and of course full IUI coverage.

Even Gift/Zift coverage.

I almost spit my coffee out when I read this.

Told DH if it comes to it, I will apply for every job SuffolkCounty offers...Heck I'll be a janitor if I get to have babies!

We cover NYC employees for Hospital care, but I believe they have GHI for Medical?

My Dad is a retired NYC cop and he has GHI as his medical.

My friend has empire insurance but she works in nassau county.

She told me it's 2 1/2 lifetime ivf .....so I guess hers is different. I

GHI, from the city covers 3 lifetime IVF with a 25 % copay. Unlimited IUI's till 44 , all testing and meds are covered with copay of course.

Sounds like suffolk county is the way to go without a doubt !!!! GEEZ....that's amazing

I know!

I WORK FOR THE COMPANY and we get ZERO IVF coverage, NOTHING at all!

It all depends on the company!

Other companies with good benefits through us are Verizon and NorthShore LIJ...they both have IVF coverage and over all amazing benefits!

Wow, that's really good. I have Aetna and I have only 4 IVF cycles per lifetime covered (which is still good). Embryo storage is not covered though.

Rose- I teach in NYC and most of my co-workers use GHI. I use HIP and have no complaints, and I've had to be hospitalized a few times with my asthma.

Re: Listen to this! ( insurance related)

Oh let me add, ...City employee GHI ...copay is 15 dollars....however, when they do blood it's an extra 15 dollars. For instance, IUI is 15 dollars, but a sono/blood is 30 dollars.

That is really good. I have Empire (Not BCBS)
and we have 50,000 lifetime for IVF and up to 6 months of frozen (cryopreservation)
It does cover a lot of other stuff too, such as egg donors and ICSI, and some other stuff.

That's awesome!!!

for any of you getting ready to take a suffolk county job just make sure the coverage starts immediately. Sometimes you have to be an employee for X amount of months/years. Like Walgreens has awesome IF benefits but now you have to be an employee for 5 years!!

I know, I am lucky enough to have that coverage....It feels so weird - going to the RE and not even having to pay a copay!!!

I wish that it was mandatory for all women. TTC is stressful enough, having to worry about $$$ on top of it is just torture!!!

I have the same. That's $50K lifetime for everything medically you might need not just infertility. Unfortunately, 50K for life is just a drop in the bucket.
