litter boxes
What do you use to keep the litter box/ room smelling clean ? I'm looking for new ideas.
Also, which litter do you think controls odor the best ?
TIA!

Re: litter boxes
Every single time I notice that it's been used, I scoop it. If I hear them scratching around in it, I'm waiting outside with a plastic bag. I can't stand seeing any evidence. We keep it in the bathroom; I keep a can of air freshener in there and it's under a shelf with a scented candle. As long as I'm home, I try to keep the candle lit. I use Fresh Step scoopable, and have no complaints. It lasts a while, too.

Re: litter boxes
We scoop every two days and no more...if the litter gets below a couple inches we replace it and we totally change the litter and scrub the box once a month. Have never had any stinky problems.

Re: litter boxes
Crystal cat litter is great for smell. You have to scoop it like any cat litter, but only have to change it every two weeks.

Re: litter boxes
I use fresh step and I find that it controls the odor well. I usually scoop out in the morning and at night, but I never notice a smell.

Re: litter boxes
We use the arm and hammer little deodorizer, that works good. Also I have an air freshner right by it also.

same here (one cat) - we use tidy cats multiple cats brand and never have a problem. it only really smells if he doesn't cover what he did - which is his way of telling us that he thinks it's time for his litter to be changed
