Living away from family and friends...
STINKS sometimes!
Can anyone else relate? We live out of state from everyone we know except for my parents. So far with this PG it's like no one cares about it at all, and that it's just like any other day. It was like this with my 1st PG, just not as bad, and it was a little different because it was our 1st so it was always exciting because we were always experiencing something for the first time, you know? Well, of course the excitement is still there, just in a different way. It just seems as if we have no one to share our miracle with. No one comes to visit us, not in years, we haven't been up to NY in almost 2 years, no one ever calls to see how we're doing, etc, nothing!!! It's really starting to upset me. I know I should not care about everyone else, but it's hitting me a bit harder than usual lately. The rest of my family and friends live on LI, my sister lives in FLA, my IL's live in MD, not that they care, but it just seems like most people have their families and friends to share their PG with and I have no one. Why doesn't anyone seem to care about my family? It's been the same for years. It's always us who makes an effort to see everyone. I just would of thought that they would call once in a while to see how we're doing. It's like we're being punished for moving out of state or something. We don't seem to exist unless we're visiting someone. Sorry so long just needed to vent!

Re: Living away from family and friends...
I can relate to a certain extent. I'm not from LI, but have been here about 4 years. I have made friends, but not the same types of close friends I had in college or growing-up. DH's family is fairly nearby, but it's not the same as my own family -- I wouldn't just call up his mom to go shopping and look at baby stuff, so I kind of know how you feel. I'm very envious of people who are lucky enough to have their moms nearby.

Re: Living away from family and friends...
I can totally relate
I live in Ct, and my WHOLE family lives on LI. It's only 2 hours away, but it's a long 2 hours away, I miss eating at grandma's on sunday's and seeing my parents when I want too, especially now after Having Gianna, I really wish I had the extra support close by.

Re: Living away from family and friends...
I think I know how you're feeling. My Dad,his wife, and my brother live in FL. My Mom and her husband live in Arizona. And my in-laws are in OHIO. So the early part of the pregnancy was a little lonely feeling. The good news is everyone really kicks into high gear excitement when you get closer. Now they're all calling every other day to find out how I'm feeling, any news, etc. So it should get better for you. In the meantime, know that you've got friends to lean on here on the board.

Re: Living away from family and friends...
With people like that I don't think it matters where you live..the phone would still not ring, they still would not call to see how things are going. Some people are just not really family-oriented. Do you have friends where you live? Maybe go to a Mommy/Me class with your son and start to make new friends with common interests.
