location of old/abandoned cesspools?
Anyone know where I can find out where an old cesspool might be on my property? It isn't indicated on our survey. (we have sewers now)
Also, any recos on who could tell me if the cesspool, and the ground above, is safe to walk on?
TIA

Do you know for sure there is one? Depending on its location, it may have had to be removed in order to hook up to sewer. They can be located, there is equipment that can detect them underground. Not sure how much a company would cost to come out and do that for you.
The ground above should be perfectly safe to walk on. You know you might have trouble is you ever see the ground in the area of them sunken in or depressed.
Ours are in our front lawn

If you check with the town or county they may have an old survey on file. Or if you are in a subdivision you can ask your neighbors since they usually put them in the same general location.
