Lock Question - Vertical or Horizontal

tradtionally, aren't the locks on a door handle locked when in the vertical position and unlocked in the horizontal? i was exaplining to my sister that our locks are backwards (unlocked - horizontal, locked - vertical) and she said that is normal.

who is the crazy one?

Hmmm my front door and bathroom are one and one. But typically, I *think* that you're right.

Yes, that's how I check each night to see if my front door is locked. If its horizontal, its locked. Vertical means its unlocked. I guess its the lock or how its installed?

I think that it's definitely the way its installed. I have seen both but the ones in my current home if locked, are in the vertical pos. Chat Icon

Horizontal: unlocked
Vertical: locked

I'm not sure if that's backwards or not Chat Icon
