Long Beach Island/Jersey Shore rentals...
My friends and I and all of our children will be going to Outer Banks, NC next month. We all went last year and it was great, but the drive is a killer, especially with little ones! I'm trying to find someplace more "local" for next summer, so...
Can anybody talk to me about house rentals in LBI or any Jersey Shore locations? Specifically, do these houses typically have pools? Also, what's the distance to the beach...walking distance usually? What about prices? Lastly, would this be a good trip for several couples and our kids?
TIA!!

I have no real info except some years ago we did this with two other couples who had little kids, house was the first one off the beach with a deck looking out to the ocean, no pool (or air conditioning).
I can't even remember what town it was ...

Re: Long Beach Island/Jersey Shore rentals...
I stayed with friends in the community called Harvey Cedars a few years ago. Since I was with friends, I'm not sure how the rental situation is. Their house was about 2 in from the beach, so steps to the beach. Harvey Cedars seems private and the people are very friendly.
I think it's a nice place for families with kids. Mostly families on the beach and not crowded in Harvey Cedars. The beach is really clean. I find the surf a bit rough, though.
On the busier side of LBI, there are amusement parks, mini golf, etc.
There are outdoor restaurants food/drinks. It's nice in the afternoon. Can't remember where this one restaurant is...I think Barnegat Light.

Re: Long Beach Island/Jersey Shore rentals...
i'm a jersey girl- born and raised LBI is great for families! theres a lot to do- mini golf, theres a water slide park, you can go to Barnaget Lighthouse.... its a nice family place. i used to stay at a friends time share in beach haven on LBI, so i don't know too much about renting... but i'm sure there are lots of great houses available! i would look into the town of Loveladies on LBI, i beleive theres some nice big houses with pools there.... I would also recommend Ocean CIty, NJ, too! its a also a great family town... and the advantage to there is that they have a boardwalk with TONS of rides, shops, good NJ Boardwalk food, games, etc. probably would be GREAT for the kids!!! Again, not sure about renting because i used to just do day trips there during college ( i went to school about 20 minutes from there), but definitely look into it!!

I used to stay in Spring Lake, I know we didn't have a pool and I don't think anyone else did either. We were half a block from the beach.

Re: Long Beach Island/Jersey Shore rentals...
We go to Beach Haven every summer. We stay at a friends' house while other friends of ours rent.
The area is nice, you can easily walk to the beach and you can easily walk to entertainment (shopping, mini golf, small amusement park).
Some of the houses do have AC and most don't seem to have pools. There have been a lot of homes redone in the past few years that are quite spacious and can fit a lot of people.
I think our friends pay about $500 pp for 10 people in a house (and they fit comfortably).

Re: Long Beach Island/Jersey Shore rentals...
I know someone who rents out a house on LBI near 86 street. The house is right on the water( about 5 steps from beach) with a view of the beach from a deck. There is no pool, but it is a great location. FM me if you would like the details.

Re: Long Beach Island/Jersey Shore rentals...
my family used to go every year to Ocean City NJ (NOT maryland)
its very family friendly - its a dry island, so there are no bars (you can bring alcohol in though) they have a boardwalk with a water park and amusement park. you can rent a house for the week, but they usually dont have pools. depending how much $$ you want to spend, you can be right on the beach or a few blocks away.
