Re: Looking for a high risk ob takes GHI
I would Highly recommend Dr. Victor Klein. He is a MFM/Perinatologist. He is funny, thorough, and his staff is wonderful.
On your first consult, he gives you a set of appointments you'll need and their locations so you can book them ahead of time. At the end of my consult, he did a full gyno exam, 14 vials of blood and the sonogram.
Then I went right to the desk to check out and made all of my appointments through August. (they have me going every 2 weeks) He will have you do your 16 and 20 week scans at the hospital (beyond state of the art machines) and you won't be sorry. It's awesome. You'll give birth at North Shore which is the best of the best, and he also helps you book the genetic counseling if you want it.
There are 4 other doctors in his practice, and they aren't peris, but one of them may be on call when you deliver. They will have you make checkup appointments with all 4 to get to know them all, and honestly I love Dr. Alkasab! All of the doctors there took extra time and care with me and I can't complain at all. they consult with each other on a weekly basis to review cases.
One downside: I am not crazy about the quality of their sono machines after having my NT scan at the hospital. meh, if that's the only complaint, I'll take it. He's hysterical, and I think you'll love him!
Congrats!

Re: Looking for a high risk ob takes GHI
i saw meirowitz when i was admitted to LIJ for pre-e. i only saw her once cause she was the on call MFM.
honestly she was in and out quickly and didnt tell me much that i didnt already know. she did do a specific sono to see the blood flow to the placenta and she assured me that it was OK (my DD was IUGR and i was admitted for pre-e with low fluid, hence the placental blood flow sono). the only thing i didnt like about her - although i dont know if its HER or just the equipment that was used - was that i had placenta accreta and it was not caught by her at all. she was the last person to do a thorough sono before i delivered, it was about 5 days before. she clearly had no idea. i know its not something thats generally looked for on a sono and the sono wasnt a great 3D one or anything, so i dont place heavy blame on her - however i do feel like someone like Kofinas would have seen it in a second. its obviously all speculation - other than that, i had no issues with her (other than getting a seperate $800 bill from her office for the sonos that day ).

Re: Looking for a high risk ob takes GHI
Thanks so much everyone!!!
I didn't knnow that Klein doesn't work w/ other peris. that makes me nervous. I need one when I deliver:(( I also don't love that the equiptment is not right in the office. U have to go to the hospital:( I heard wonderful things about Klein so he's definately worth a call. Thinking about doing someone at Mt. Sinai if I could find someone who takes my insurance.
thanks again everyone!!!!! xoxo
