Looking for a park w/ bbq facilities in CT
Can you please recommend places with bbq facilities in CT?
A park with a playground or beach would be nice.

What county? I live in Fairfield county. CT recently raised the fees for residents/non-residents for all state parks. Here's a list of state parks that can be reserved.
Rentals
You could also try Beardsley Zoo. They host birthday parties and private events/catering.

We are looking for a park that is close to New Haven. It can be on the way to New Haven so Fairfield should be ok too.
We are looking to do a family bbq so we want grills. We don't need anything catered. It isn't a special event.

What about Sleeping Giant Mountain in Hamden? Its across from Quinnipiac University which is about 10mins north of New Haven off of Rt 91. I went to QU and I'm pretty sure there are bbq's there and then you can hike the mountain!
