Looking for an EXCEPTIONALLY sanitary nail salon . . .
I am talking about uses basins without jets for pedicures, gives you your own nail files/buffers etc, maybe even gives you your own bottle of polish?
I know Bocu does this in their spa area (I don't think you get your own polish though) and I've had mani/pedis like this at high end hotels in Vegas. I don't know of anywhere else around here like this. Even the "clean" strip mall nail salons don't seem to follow the recommendations that they are supposed to. For example, I've never seen them clean the foot basins for a full 10 minutes (more like 10 seconds!) between clients.
I'd like to get my nails done but I can never enjoy it because I'm wondering if I'm going to get an infection the whole time. Not to mention the flack I always get from techs when I tell them not to cut my cuticles.
I am willing to spend more money (and travel a bit) for a place that actually IS sanitary.

Thank you! Wish they had this on LI but I think I found something similar in my Google search.

Atlas park in queens is similar to this. They use a plastic insert in the foot basin over the jets and disposable manicure tools. I haven't brought my own polish, but I don't see why you cant?

The problem is no matter how well a place may clean those tubs, the jets harbor fungus and bacteria that you can NOT get to. You would have to take the jets apart every single time. The only really safe place is one that doesn't use a jetted foot tub. Just a plain basin that can be sanitized properly. I am thinking a day spa would probably be the best chance of finding this.

My good friend got an awful toenail fungus from a pedi at NuBest about 10 years ago. We were there for a bachelorette party and they were under renovation so they used plain basins. She still got a fungus, she lost her toenail. so nasty

Could have been the implements they used.

I'm not sure of one but as previous poster said not sure any can be completely sanitary? My friend got MRSA at a nail salon and it was very serious...I do my own nails now...I do miss going though.
