I worked in Newark for a really long time, but I'm not sure about Italian restaurants. Newark is more known for their Portugese and Spanish restaurants. There is a really good place in the Robert Treat Hotel that is across from the NJPAC - I think it's called Maize, I ate there years ago and the food was delicious.

I think my boss specially wants Italian, it is a business dinner however I will google that place.

The only Italian restaurant I've been to in Newark is in the Gateway complex, the building closest to Newark Penn Station.
There are loads of Portuguese restaurants in the Ironbound section, behind (east) of Newark Penn Station.
