I like Sue Grafton and Mary Higgins Clarke for mysteries. I've heard Linda Fairstein and Jeffrey Deaver are also good but I've never read anything by them.

I am obsessed with Greg Iles!!! Love him!

Don't know if you're into true crime, but I love Anne Rule - she writes books about true crime.

To me, nothing beats Agatha Christie!

And if you never read anything of hers I really envy you, 'cause you are in for a real treat!

Jonathan Kellerman especially "When the Bough Breaks". I read it years ago but I thought it was so good. This is also his character's debut Alex Delware. Also, Charm School by Nelson DeVille.

Re: Looking for good mystery/murder books...

I'm currently reading In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. It's a true story and I don't know that there's much mystery in it, but it's a crime story and it is so well written. I'm really enjoying it.

Michael Connelly is very good. The Det Harry Bosch series is excellent.

Re: Looking for good mystery/murder books...

Catherine Coulter has a good FBI series.

Easy to read, and you get to watch the characters progress over time, similar to Alex Cross series by James Patterson.

She probably has more of a female audience since she writes some sappy romance novels too, but I like the FBI series best.
