Looking for good sugar-free/low sugar desserts and cakes on LI - BAKERY
Any good recs?

Hell yes.
DH makes insane desserts and he is doing keto so they are all sugar free/barely a carb.
I don't do keto but I love them myself.
My favorite is a lemon cheesecake
He also makes these "twix" bars that don't taste like twix bars but tastes like a really yummy cookie/bar.
He also has a good pumpkin pie recipe.
If you are interested in any of those let me know which ones and I'll get you the recipes.

Cakes basically have to have sugar in them so that they can rise. They also have flour, which is basically sugar in a different form (at least for diabetics). Like NervousNell mentioned, there are non-cake deserts that are sugar free, or low sugar.
My mom makes a pie using sugar free pudding that is very tasty.

I haven't purchased any sugar free desserts that I would call good yet.
I do like atkins chocolate bars/treats, maybe you could unwrap them to make a nicer presentation?

He won't even use artificial sweetners other than stevia or monk fruit because he says even those spike your blood sugar a bit

Yes let me get them from him.
Bear in mind, it does NOT taste like a Twix candy bar that we know. But it tastes very good as a sugar free/ low low carb dessert.
They are NOT low calorie though as they contain fat. (they are a keto recipe)
But if you are looking to cut sugar and carbs- they are great

Here is the Twix bars:
Healthy Homemade Twix Bars
This recipe calls for Maple Syrup. If you need it to be truly sugar free, he buys something on Amazon that is a maple syrup made with monkfruit. Lakanto is the brand.

Side note, but erythritol is also an excellent low carb/calorie sweetener for baking. It’s my favorite. I get zero funny fake taste from it.

Just be careful with "sugar free" baked goods from supermarkets etc.
As Goldenrod mentioned, if the person is diabetic they likely can't have flour either as carbohydrates spike blood sugar.
Things made with almond flour, coconut flour etc are good substitutes for wheat flour.
If they are just looking to cut sugar then those options should be fine.
