Looking for suggestions:
RJ is still really sick- he is no longer throwing up- but still has very bad diarhhea(sp?)
He is refusing to eat and drink- and has had nothing more than pieces of banana, a half a plain bagel and sips of water since late Sat. night
He is still wetting diapers... by my ped. says he has to eat in order to bind himself...
He has no appetite and cries as soon as we put him in the highchair...
We've tried:
Pedialyte Gatorade water rice toast crackers banana
He'll drink milk from a bottle- but I try to give it as a last resort- at this point he could have anything- I just wanna keep him hydrated!
Im thinking of buying baby rice cereal and putting it in his milk bottle- do you think thats a good idea?
I gotta bind him- so please- send some suggestions my way!

Re: Looking for suggestions:
Since he is still taking bottles why not try the cereal. Maybe try holding him when you feed him, instead of putting him in the hi chair? Poor Ryan, hope he recovers soon

Re: Looking for suggestions:
I know, it really s*x when our babies aren't feeling good How old is he? how about putting different things in front of him, just to see if he'll have anything-cheerios-crackers... My son was sick like this a few months ago, and the only thing he would eat were the nabisco mini chocolate chip cookiesin the small bags. Not my first choice of food to give him, but he wasnt keeping anything & had NO appetite, and it was scary bc i could see that he was losing a little weight, so i just let him go to town on the cookies....after a couple of days he was back to normal.good luck! Also-my kids hate pedialite-but they'll eat the ice pops. Have you tried those? I keep them in my house all the time now.

Re: Looking for suggestions:
Honestly- I think if I gave him some junk food- he'd prob eat it- but Im afraid its gonna make things worse...
He will not eat if I hold him either- I felt so bad- but I was so desperate before I was like force feeding him the grains of rice...

Re: Looking for suggestions:
also-very important that he doesnt get dehydrated-did your ped. tell you to do the skin test every hour?pinch the skin lightly on the back of his hand - if the skin stays tented up,then he could be dehydrated-try those pedialite ice pops..... poor baby good luck

Re: Looking for suggestions:
Can you mix the pedialyte with the milk?? Just a suggestion.
I don't have any advice b/c Grace will drink the pedialyte straight when she is sick like this.
Hugs for Ryan and mommy

geez....what about noodles from chicken noodle soup and maybe the veggies?
honestly...chocolate will bind you up also (I believe it's dark chocolate)
rice oatmeal..what about some quaker oatmeal w/ a dash of cinnamon sugar (or plain if he'll eat that....Alyson will devour oatmeal)

How about my speciality....a cheese omlette! Noah will ALWAYS eat that, or some scrambled eggs!
Good Luck!

Re: Looking for suggestions:
applesauce or soft cooked apples with cinnamon? I know that apples are definitely suggested when they're bowels are loose. I hope he's better soon, it's so hard when they're sick.

Re: Looking for suggestions:
I know you said that apples usually make him go, but try mixing some applesauce with rice. I know it's gross, but when Nate had diahrrea for over a week that was the only way he would eat rice. Also he would eat toast if I put a little jelly (not too much) not too much. Not sure of the brand but walgreens had these electrolyte jello cups, Nate like those and the pedialyte ice pops.
Hope he feels better soon.

I don't think it makes a difference between apples and applesauce. Aren't they essentially the same thing?
I dunno about the T... my cousin is a resident in med school and told me tea last month when the kids were sick. But he's pretty sleep deprived and could have made a mistake.

Re: Looking for suggestions:
the milk might be causing the diarrhea
When Antonio was sick the diarhea lasted almost a month!
We used soy or lactaid milk with cereal in the bottle. The ped told us that with the stomach virus you develop a lactose intolerance. However yogurt is different so maybe try the yobaby with bananas.
The doctor also prescribed Floristar to coat his stomach

As far as the milk- Im not giving him milk excessively- but when he hasnt wet a diaper in awhile- or drank anything in awhile-I know its atleast SOMETHING to keep him hydrated!
