Looking like IUI#2 is a failure - still torn and running out of time

I knew ever since the coversation with the nurse last week that it didn't look good. I tested this morning and BFN. I'm not sure if i should bother continuing the progesterone and didn't take it this morning since i figure what's the point? I am supposed to go in on Wed for the blood test but i know.

I was planning on moving straight to IVF but the acupuncturist thinks I should wait another few months before trying. I haven't given it a chance to work and he's positive that IVF won't work. Problem is i really don't want to wait any longer. On the other hand, i'm afraid if i don't wait, he could be right and i'll only set myself up for failure. I'm so torn on what to do.

I'm so torn.

Wait, why is your acupuncturist saying that IVF won't work? I'm confused!

Since when are accupuncturists experts on IVF? I have a 6 month old DD from IVF and did accupuncture during my IVF cycle. At no point did my accupuncturist tell me what I should or shouldn't be doing with my fertility treatments.

I just re-read your post. There would be no way in h e l l that I would take this acupuncturist's word and further more, I would fire him/her.

Same here. If I were you I would be pizzed that your acupuncturist said that. They are supposed to help you along the process not discourage you.

I guess most acupuncturists like to have 3 cycles down before they feel that their treatment is being effective. How long have you been seeing this acupuncturist?

Its really up to you whether you want to wait or not. If you believe in acu then you may want to give it time to work. But, if you are like all us, we want to have our baby yesterday and waiting is like a life sentence.

Good luck.

I don't think its that he doesn't think it will ever work, just that its more beneficial for me to try it for a few months before moving onto IVF.

I haven't been going for too long I've only had 4 'treatments' over the course of a month. 3 of them were before my IUI on 10/28 and 1 after. This was also at 2 different acupuncturists. They both said i need to let my system regulate itself which usually takes 2-3 months. I liked the first one but he's a little too much of a trip for me plus he isn't in my insurance so its just going to end up being too costly. I'm not too crazy about this new one so i think I might try somone else on my plan.

That's exactly how i feel right now. Every month and failed cycle just makes me feel worse. I knew it would be hard but It really seems to be getting the best of me lately.

I guess that I, personally, wouldn't really care what my acupuncturist's thoughts are. U have to go with your gut and also work w/ your RE to make the best decision for you. JMHO!

I spoke with my RE when I went in for my IUI and he said he really doesn't believe that acupuncture helps at all so he wasn't too much help on the matter. He said that there are no true statistics to prove it works. He said it probably couldn't hurt but there's no reason to delay IVF.
