Looking to go to Disney for DS's 3rd bday next November
However, planning the trip is a bit overwhelming.....so many places, options, etc. What are some kid friendly hotels? Is the dining plan worth it? What is the average cost of a Disney trip (family of 3 for 4 nights....3 days at the park) Any advice, ideas, etc. would be greatly appreciated

We go to Disney every year.
Most of the hotels are very kid friendly it just depends on what you want to spend. The Value Resorts (All the All Star ones and Pop Century) are inexpensive and are meant for families.
We have never done the dining plan before but we might do it next year when we go. My cousins got the upgraded one last year and they said it was too much food. They do the regular one usually (1 sit down meal, one counter service meal and 1 snack per day). They also drive down though so they go to restaurants off property to save some money.
We usually buy our park tickets on www.ticketmania.com . They generally are a little less expensive than the Disney site. But Disney has been having specials on their vacation packages lately so check their site out also to see if they are offering anything.
As far as cost it really depends on what hotel you stay at. The value resorts tend to be around $100 a night but then there are hotels that are $300-$400 a night. For a 4 day park ticket for an adult it's prob around $300 a piece. Children under 3 are free to get in the parks.
For food we generally budget about $100 a day, but there are only 2 of us (my DD is just about to turn 2 so hasn't eaten much yet).
