Lost my step-dad
My step-dad died suddenly last week in his sleep. This has been so hard on me and especially my mom. He has been in my life since I was 5 and I grew up living with him. He was only 60 and my mom is only 58...they had their whole lives left to live. I am trying to be strong for my mom but it is so hard. On top of it all my husband and I are not doing well in our own marriage. I feel everything is crashing down and I just want to cry. Thanks for letting me vent.

Re: Lost my step-dad
i'm sorry for your loss. my dad passed 5 months ago unexpectedly. he was in his early 60's and great health, very active. my parents marriage is something i've always admired...they did everything together...boating, beach, movies, dinners...all while holding hands. they were best friends.
i know what it's like to force a smile. the first 2 months i barely cried....i had to be strong for my mom and guide her thru the process. in doing so, i myself didn't greive. i'm still letting it out. my only advice is to find some support group, especially if you and your husband aren't doing well....you need to take care of youself as well. pls FM if you want to chat....keep the faith. it will get easier over time!

This is exactly how I feel. Just being strong for mom....haven't grieved at all myself. I get glimpses of..wow is he really gone? And it just doesn't make sense.
