Louis the fence guy problems

Louis installed our fence in the back yard a couple of weeks ago. We have 2 neighbors whose back yards butt up against ours, basically splitting it in half. The right half of our and neighbor #1's yard has my chain link fence. Neighbor #2's yard and the left half of mine has their chain link. The deal was for him to take down our chain link and put up our new wood fence the whole width of our back yard. It wasn't until after he finished, he realized he forgot to take down our chain link (it's behind the new fence, so I can't see it). I didn't see that until the job was finished. It was already dusk, so he said he'd be back in 2 days to take down the chain link, which means he would have to access it through my neighbor's yard. I don't know them, so I left a note in their mail box explaining the situation and gave them my phone number. They called and were very nice about it.

A week goes by and the chain link is still there. I called him on sunday afternoon and he apologized and said he would be there Sunday night or Monday morning to do it. Today, it's still not done. I just called him again and said I didn't want to have to call him every 3 days and to please do it by Friday. He apologized again and said he would.

I have no recourse, b/c I paid in full for the job, which I now regret. Am I being too nice to him? I'm brilliant at ******** behind people's back, but to their face, I'm a huge wuss. WWYD?

he never even showed for our estimate..even though we spoke on the phone numerous times..even though I said he came high recommended to me by numerous people.

I'd be all over it.

I'm having problems with him as well. My gate does not close properly and I've been waiting 3 weeks and he keeps saying "he's coming". My DH is freaking out and is totally pizzed.

Hoo boy. I don't like that he's BSing you guys too. What sucks most is that now my neighbors are involved. I might just call another company to remove the chain link if he doesn't do it in a week.

I don't think he's BS'ing me, I think that I live way out in SUffolk and he doesn't have a jobout here right now so it's inconvenient.

He and I will be chatting today though.

oh boy. That sounds like something is up. Maybe there's more to the story.

Only playing devil's advocate because he did a great job for us and had no issues. My neighbors too.

I hope you all get a speedy resolution and a really really good explanation.

Wow reading this I am glad we did not use him. We called him for an estimate and he just priced us out over the phone (based on how many sections we needed) but didn't actually come by the property for an estimate. He came in almost 1k less than all of the other big name companies. However, DH did not like the fact that he didn't come by for an estimate and that there was no warranty, etc. versus using a better known fence company. So in the end we ended up paying more for another company for some piece of mind. They are actually installing our fence today!
