Low carbers

so I have gained 20lbs in the last year.....usually if I put on a few pounds I eat healthy and run and it comes right off but nothing is working

so last week I cut out carbs (eating a few non starchy atkins approved veggies) I dropped a few pounds the first few days now I am at a stand still AGAIN

what am I doing wrong?? I had bloodwork done to check my thyroid just to see if someone is up medically hop to have the results this week

anyway if you have read this far thank you and can someone give me tips on how to eat low carb properly.......Ive googled a million times I think Im doing it right but now I am not sure
TIA!!!

Re: Low carbers

I would say you are expecting too much, too soon.

Also are you exercising at all?

Relax, take a deep breath. It's only been a week.

Consistency is the key. Keep doing what you are doing. Unless you are very overweight a healthy weightloss is about 2lbs per week. If you exercise and you haven't been it could be muscle or time of day you are weighing yourself could effect the scale. If you want to get the best results eat proteins, fats and veggies. Cut out all breads, pastas, lentils and even fruit as it has a ton of unnecessary sugars.

I am in the same situation. I haven't cut out carbs altogether, I just try not to eat them in the later afternoon and evening. Being consistent is definitely key. I also found once I added interval training it has really made a huge difference.

It comes down to cal in and out. If you are running and burning cals and not eating enough you will hold onto what you have as your body thinks it will need it.

You WILL NOT put on muscle by normal workouts. In order to put on muscle that will make a difference on the scale you need to really train.

Just keep at it and really track what you eat. I find I tend to eat more than I think if I am not tracking.

Re: Low carbers

There's so much that affects fat loss, muscle gain, weight on the scale, bloating... I think you should consider these to start:

- Are your expectations too high?
- Are you tracking calories, fat, carbs, protein, and salt intake as well?
- How do you know what calories you are ingesting/burning?
- As we get older, we can't expect the same results we had 1-5 years ago
- Are you eating bloating food, causing water retention?
- Are you doing both strength and cardio? Cardio only isn't the answer.
- Are the low-carb foods you're eating higher in other 'bad' things like fat or salt?
- Your body can plateau every 3 weeks if you don't switch it up enough and keep it guessing.
- If you want to keep the weight off in the long run, look at weight loss as a gradual process, not a temporary measure. Then it no longer matters how long it takes, only that it's permanent.

Try paleo. It's not a diet it's a lifestyle. Cutting processed foods will automatically drop carbs but more importantly drop preservatives and other chemicals from your diet. It will help up you lose weight but also feel amazing and clean.
