Low lying placenta
I had a sono today since I was having really bad cramps and some really sharp pains. Thankfully everything still looks good and he's figuring it was just growing pains. He also mentioned that my placenta was low. He did say it was early to worry about it since it usually corrects itself. He's going to keep an eye on it. What does it mean if it doesn't correct itself?
TIA

Re: Low lying placenta
I think he's talking of placenta previa (that's if it doesn't correct itself...which it probably will).
As you get further along, the placenta should move upwards.

Re: Low lying placenta
At 20 weeks they noticed that I had a low lying placenta ( there is also marginal and complete) and was placed on restrictions such as no intimacy and no lifting over 15 pounds. At 24 weeks I had another sonogram that showed it resolved itself.
Edited to add: Its very common

Re: Low lying placenta
At my 13.5 week sono they saw that I had a low lying placenta. It was 1.5 mm from my cervix. They said it should correct itself so don't worry about it. Well, it did! At my 18 week sono it moved far away from the cervix, but it's still towards the front of my uterus. I wouldn't worry about it!

Re: Low lying placenta
I had it with my first and it also corrected itself.
ETA: Worse case you would need a c-section because you can't deliver the placenta before the baby.
