low papp a?
hey there ladies, i dont post much due to a lurker..but i must ask this question and not care about this stupid lurker.
2wks prior to going to my nt screening i had blood drawn that was then sent to the lab/hospital where i was having the nt test done. so at 11w5d i went in & based on the sono and other info my results came back normal. I was given the results there on the spot. however, I was told that my papp a levels were low. they said the number was 5. the sono tech said that it was nothing to worry about. she said that usually the # that they like to see is 6 & above.
the next day i had a my ob check-up and my dr. said that she was not worried. so i was not worried. i must include that i see a practice w/ 3drs. & 1 midwife. so today at 16w5d i went in for another checkup and i saw another dr. who said that the # of 6 was too low and she was concerned and the # she likes to see is 10 & above. So today they took blood again for the AFP test. i should get the results next week.
my question is, has anyone here had/has this issue? if so, what were the end results? im trying to use webmd to get some more answers but everything seems so vague
i would love to hear anyone's experience with this..good or bad

Re: low papp a?
I'm not much help, I also had a low papp a protein.....i have prior issues with other unrelated things so because of the low papp a the OB put me back on Lovenox. This is a blood thinner, but it is not a treatment for low papp a just something he felt I should do because of this test result and my other issues. I was unable to find too much info about it either.
Sorry you are dealing with this
Eta: I also have sono's every 3 weeks because of a separate issue to date baby measures on target and last week he was measuring about a week ahead. (I'm 26 weeks tomorrow)

Re: low papp a?
My NT scan looked ok, but my blood work came back showing some concerns. Both my Papp-A and free beta hcg were below the normal levels. When I met with the genetic counselor, she stated that because both levels were low, it could be an indication of growth/placenta problems down the line. At my 16 week blood work, my spina bifida results were slightly above the normal range, which was another indication that there could be growth concerns. My Level II looked good and now I'm getting growth sonos every 4 weeks with a perinatologist. So far, the baby is within the normal growth range. I hope everything turns out okay.

Re: low papp a?
same exact thing happened to me at about the same time in pregnancy. Low papp A sometimes cause MC if not treated and the treatment is Lovenox.
Many Many women don't even know they have it and have safe pregnancies. THey will watch you a bit more closely and you are being treated. Good luck
