Re: Low Thyroid
I have a thyroid condition, but I have had it since my first DD was born. I have taken synthroid throughout this pregnancy.

Re: Low Thyroid
ive had hashimotos disease since before i was pg. i take the generic version of synthroid (levothyroxine) daily. i had to alert my endocrinologist the minute i found out i was pg so that she could keep an eye on my TSH count (i think thats what its called lol). so far ive stayed level on the meds but i have to get bloodwork every other month so she can check if she has to increase my daily dosage.

Re: Low Thyroid
yes they said mine was a bit on the low side when they took the blood work, I had never had a low thyroid before that. They said the hormones make your body go out of wack sometimes. At 14 weeks I took another test and it had leveled it self out.

Re: Low Thyroid
i've also had Hashimoto's (autoimmune hypothyroidism) for about 9 years -- ive been on levothyroxine since then.
funny thing is - it's almost is "remission" since I've been pregnant. My OB said that since our autoimmune systems arent as strong, my body isnt fighting my thyroid like it used to! i should just hold this in forever!

Re: Low Thyroid
I have had a thyroid issue since I was 21. I have been on synthroid since then. I have to get my levels checked each month, and they increase my dosage since the beg- it has stayed consistent since then.

Re: Low Thyroid
i also have hashimotos and was on levothyroxine (sp) b4 i got pregnant. My endocrinologist has tested and increased my dosage every month bc my levels havent been stable. as of last moth it seemed to have been stablized but im having it checked again in 2 weeks.
He preferred me taking synthroid - not the generic - said he likes his pregnant patients to be on synthroid.

Re: Low Thyroid
I have a predisposition to hypothyroidism though I've never needed medication prior to getting pregnant. My OB was aware of my issues and tested me early on - my TSH was a little off and he ended up putting me on synthroid (I think my prescription's the generic).
