Low windows
I have low windows (double hang) throughout my house - the bottom is only about two feet off the floor, if that. The locks are high enough that they are about eye level for me (ie: five feet) so DS cannot reach to unlock while standing - but he's so inquisitive and creative that I'm terrified at the thought of him figuring out how to unlock and get out (I know...unlikely...but still). I had them childproofed and we were supposed to be able to easily bypass but the panes are so close together it wasn't working - so basically the windows could not be opened in case of an emergency so we removed those. Any thoughts on what I can do?? Is there another means of childproofing? What i had was a piece of plastic that had a part that flipped up to lock and down to bypass.

Low windows
I have low Windows too and honestly they aren't a problem. I have a coffee table in front of the one in the living room and nothing by the one in the bedroom. I just keep him away from there and keep the cord for the blinds way up high.

Re: Low windows
My windows are so heavy I have a hard time opening them... I can't imagine DD having the strength to open one herself.. But we do have these on all our windows- they basically pop out so if you try to open the window with them engageed you can only open them a crack- like enough to get air. They are more for security purposes....but also work for child proofing. If you want or need to open the window fully, you just press them in.

Re: Low windows
Thanks ladies! He has two in his bedroom - neither of which are or can be blocked with anything - and I'm planning to switch him to a bed soon so that's what has me thinking. I may gate his bedroom so he can't get to the other windows in the middle of the night. I'll look into a lock like the one above!
ETA there are about 12 or 14 of these windows in the whole house.

I only have two in my whole house. The locks that Nell shoes above came with my Windows. They are like on the side near the top

Low windows
I have low windows too. I can't imagine a little kid having the leverage and strength to push it up. And none of my kids ever showed any interest in climbing out the windows. Still, when I open them, I open them from the top, particularly upstairs, where I was concerned about them falling out.
