Lower back cramps before delivering?

I have been having a lot of lower back cramps. I was 2 cm last Tuesday and I go back to the doctor tonight. Did anyone have cramps like these and deliver shortly after? The baby is still active though and I know they are supposed to quiet down before arrival.

do they come and go? You could be in labor... I had terrible back cramps while i was in active labor - At first I just felt the contractions in my abdomen, but eventually they were completey around my abdomen and back. Everyone's labor is different. Start timeing them if you havn't already. Good luck!

I have had them for the last week but last night they seemed to be worse. They come and go but when they do come they last for a while so I dont think they are contractions.

my labor started with pains in my lower back, and belly. I felt like I had to go to the bathroom...then realized that I felt I had to go every 2-3 minutes! Hopefully this is it for you!!!!!!!!

I never had any pain/cramps in the front, all of my labor pain was in my back, this could be it!

my back was KILLING me during labor. i dont remember if it hurt before i went into labor, but definitly during...

Yes, I had lots of back cramps. Mine lasted for two weeks on and off before delivering but only got into a specific pattern when I went into actual labor.

Instead of feeling contractions, I had a lower backache. Mine started on a Friday at 9 pm and I ended up delivering DS on Sunday at 2:43 pm. At first the backaches had no specific pattern and were sporadic (at that point I was only 1 cm). Throughout the following day they started to form more of a pattern. By close to midnight the following day, I couldn't walk or talk through my backaches and DH realized that I was actually in labor! When my backaches were 7-8 mins apart on Saturday night, I was 4 cm dilated. My baby was still active between cramps. Honestly, I wasn't even thinking about the baby's movements in the hospital because I was too focused on pain and the contractions. So long as they had a strong heartbeat on the monitor, I didn't think about his movement.
