Lowitt Alarm owners? A question....

I know it's suggested to have a regular landline with lowitt's alarms, but it is MANDATORY? We have VOIP and I don't want to have to go back to a landline just for the alarm unless we absolutely have to.

We are currently with Lowitt. It's not mandatory, but they sent us a letter requesting that we keep a landline if we hadn't switched to VOIP yet.

We're getting estimates to upgrade our system since it's about 20 years old - tape on the windows and all. Anyhow, all of the companies we've spoken to have said that they have a lot of problems with OptVoice and that they prefer a landline or Verizon FIOS.

CathyB - do you mind sharing how Lowitt compares to the other companies you've looked into? I just signed with them to upgrade our system (same thing - old tape on the windows). Just curious to see how they stack up.

Thanks!

Since we are existing customers they want a lot more money to upgrade. With other companies we can get an installation deal since we want a wireless system and they have to replace everything. But Lowitt's monthly monitoring is a few dollars less than the other companies. So far we've spoken to General Security, ADT, Brinks, and APS.

yep, they quoted me about $10 less a mth for monthly monitoring than Brinks did.

I think overall, Lowitts is a great company - we had them in my parent's house when I was younger and their c/s.
