Lung Cancer ???
My FIL was diagnosed with lung cancer in late April. The tumor is huge and pretty much the size of his lung. Since his diagnosis, no progress has been made in course of treatment.
For those with past/previous experience...How long did it take from diagnosis to actual treatment (Radiation or Chemo)? No stage has been given at least not to our knowledge. I know every case is different just trying to get a general timeframe.
My FIL lives on the West Coast so it is hard for us to determine what's going on? I think he is canceling appointments and giving up on fighting. He claims to have numerous doctor appointments but of course they end up getting canceled or he is in too much pain to go. He is living on painkillers. We ask for his doctor info and always get an excuse. We are planning on going out West very soon to get a grasp of the situation.
I feel so bad for my DH. He lost his mother seven years ago and now possibly his dad .

Re: Lung Cancer ???
So sorry to hear this.
My aunt was diagnosed a few months ago and recently had her lung removed.
She opted for that instead of the chemo and radiation since she thought she would have a better quality of life.
She is recovering nicely and getting on with her life.
I was pretty amazed at how well she was doing.
I know that sounds drastic but there are many folks who do this. It can prolong life for years.
I wish your FIL a speedy recovery and a good long life.

Re: Lung Cancer ???
First, I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL. Many prayers for all of you.
My father was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lung cancer four years ago this past February. When the cancer was discovered, it was in one of his lungs and had spread into his neck. I believe he started chemo and radiation sometime in March of that year; the tumor then shrunk enough to be operated on-he had surgery in July. He did lose part of one lung though. The recovery after the surgery was rough, but he's been fine (knock wood!) ever since.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Re: Lung Cancer ???
do you happen to know if it is small cell or non small-cell lung cancer? FIL succumbed to small cell lung cancer two years ago. It generally spreads much quicker and typically surgery is not an option. He did undergo chemo but not radiation because it was too widespread.
