Lupus or RA or blood disorder? Re: Bloodwork
I just got back from the Rheumatologist regarding my blood work..
It's pretty much inconclusive and doesnt really make much sense. I was so hoping for answers...
1st my WBC is a little high. Not a big deal. It's only slightly elevated..
BUT my C-Reactive protein is elevated but she never addressed that nor was it flagged.. Dont know what that means...although that it can be a screening test she never said anything
My RF and ANA came back negative for Rheumatoid Arthritise and Lupus BUT my ANTI DS DNA came back positive at 82.0 (anything over 25 is considered positive)....
My Complement C4 is slightly elevated at 41
My APTT is elevated as well but b/c my ANA was negative she said it was nothing...so the fact that my blood is taking longer to clot isnt a concern?
She also tested my Von Willebrand Factor. It's within the "normal" range..but barely..and when I say barely I mean barely..
She said that there is probably something brewing but I dont HAVE anything yet.
This is so frustrating.
Anyone?
Should I make an appointment at yet ANOTHER doctor...(Ive been to the ENT, ENDO, RHEUMOTOLIGIST, DERM, ORTH, & GP)
Thanks....

Have you gone to any of the major medical centers like NYU?

Is she going to treat you for anything now? If not, take your results to another rheumatologist.

I think my dad has a big wig list of rheumatologists if you need it. LOL!!!!! For a while he was was the person in his support group who kept lists of doctors to give names to people who didn't have doctors, such as people who learned from their GP that they had something. I don't know if he is still doing that b/c he is less active in the group.

Heather, listen to them! Never sit back and WAIT! You must be proactive!!!!!!!
If I didn't search out my own doctors I still wouldn't be walking or driving.
ETA: On a funny note: When I get my bloodwork, do you want to compare results?

Stan has Von willebrand in his family, stan might even have it. My SIL has lupus-its very hard to diagonose. it was all different diagnoses. it also turned out that she also had another disease---i will find out what it was, if I forget-remind me... I hope u feel better!
Thanks....

I will...THANKS...
There is definitely something going on. The Rheumatologist didnt deny that. But she couldnt diagnose anything...Very frustrating.
