Lutheran Church and Holy Communion
DH and I were both raised Catholic. We are going to be at a Lutheran church over the weekend for a baptism. Do we receive Holy Communion or no? I know they're not the same religion but I know the beliefs are a bit similar and I want to be respectful.
Thanks!

Yes, you can!!
In my church the pastor always offers communion to anyone in the Christian faith.
DH is Catholic and takes communion at my church. So do some other family members that are Catholic-when they come to special events.

Same for our church. My DH was raised Catholic but became a member of the church before we were married but he still received communion before that

Re: Lutheran Church and Holy Communion
As long as you are Christian and received your First Holy Communion, you should receive Communion.
ETA: This is based on my Lutheran Church.

Re: Lutheran Church and Holy Communion
I believe the Lutheran faith does welcome all Christians to take part in communion in their churches.
HOWEVER, the CATHOLIC faith does NOT permit a Catholic from receiving communion in a non Catholic church because the church does not believe in transubstantiation of the Eucharist, and that is one of the fundamental teachings of Catholicisim.
I feel this is a personal choice though, so you can do whatever you feel comfortable with!

I'm pretty sure that a Lutheran churches are fine with you receiving communion. Catholic churches say that those who are Catholic cannot. However, my belief is that you can-if you are comfortable-take communion wherever you are.

They are the same religion... Lutheran and Catholics are both Christian, just different sects

Yup and non Catholics are not permitted to receive communion during a Catholic masd. I do it anyway.
