Mac books..what is so great about them?
I am just wondering... may be in the market for a laptop. I know a lot of people swear by macs. I was just wondering why. I am not to knowledgeable about laptops.
Educate me please. Thanks

i just saw your post on parenting about viruses. the best thing about macbooks is they rarely are prone to viruses. i guess it's not impossible but most viruses impact pc's. i've been using a mac for 7 years and i've never had a virus.
other than that, i'd say macs are more "user friendly". you literally buy it, open it, answer a few questions and it works. there's not 700 installation discs to deal with.
for photos and music it's awesome! iphoto is such a great program and makes organizing your photos so easy!

that sucks about the water damage. that would break my heart if that happened to me!
most macs do come with the option of upgrading the memory. i added an additional memory card to my old ibook...it was so easy i even installed it myself :)

true... but for the price you can get more memory on a pc than a mac... you can get a 500 pc that has the same memory as a 1000 mac

i say the same exact thing!!!! i love my mac, i am on my second macbook. I also have an ipad and ipod touch...once you go mac....you can't go back....they are great.
i got both my parents to move to macs as well. my SO works for apple and in my house we have 4 macbooks, 1 ipad, 3 ipods, 1 ipod touch, apple tv, you name it, we got it....nothing but good things to say about any item they put out. i can never see myself buying a pc again and curse mine at work and beg for a mac...yes, they are expensive, moreso than an pc, but i feel you get more for your money with a mac....no regrets..

its not a PC and its not windows based..enough said..LOL.
although Im using windows 7 and its pretty good. but friends who have converted to macbooks..swear by it.
its really good if you use photoshop/design programs. at work we have all these things on pc computers and they just suck to run these programs most times.

that is totally true, using photo programs (aperature, a mac program like photoshop) is so much easier. photoshop kept crashing my last two macs,i had to get rid of it b/c i could never open it up....even though it was a mac version. Now, i use iphoto or aperature now and get the same results, even easier. I don't think i miss any aspect of a pc now using a mac. There a few things to get used too, different buttons, commands, but besides that, you will pick up on it right away. Plus, apple has support, one on one when you purchase one to get you started.

Mac use a UNIX OS and you can get the benefits of a PC (including upgradability and price) and no viruses, by running LINUX instead of Windows on your pc - best of both worlds

I don't know. I switched from a PC to a Mac a year ago and I am still so frustrated with it. Mostly when trying to edit pictures. It was a big change for me. I do think it runs alot faster/better though.

I got a Mac last year. It's a good computer but I don't LOVE it the way most others love their Macs.
I like it, I like not really worrying about viruses and it was easy to get used to, but I wouldn't say that it necessarily changed my life or that I wouldn't at some point go back to a PC.
