Re: Macaroni salad, cole slaw...etc...
I'm kinda iffy with it. I've eaten it a few times (I didn't know it was questionable until recently) but now I'm a little afraid to. I had been having lots of egg salad sandwiches at work becuase it was one of the only things they serve there that seemed "safe" . . . Only for me to read that it can contain lysteria after months of eating it .
I'd probably be hesitant to eat any of that stuff unless I had just made it myself at home and even then I'm not sure what the exact "bad" part of it is. I would be afraid to get it from a deli or restaurant. I'm assuming the lysteria risk is the reason for not eating it, right?

I ate it with Ds and I'll be eating it in this pregnancy. There isn't much i didn't eat...just did it in moderation. You just have to use your best judgement with some of this stuff. If It was iffy I wouldn't touch it but typically it was from a place I knew and had a good reputation there wasn't a problem.

I'm actually not even sure what the risk is with it....? The mayo maybe?

Re: Macaroni salad, cole slaw...etc...
I make myself egg salad all the time, I hope it's ok to have that. When i was 15 I worked at a bagel store and the mac salad, cole slaw and potato salad were bought in tubs they weren't freshly made so I am sure most places do the same. Maybe it has to do with it not being fresh and sitting for a while.
As far as mayo goes regular mayo has hydrogenated oils in it and anything hydrogenated is really bad for you. I buy the new mayo made with olive oil and I love it. It's so much better for you.

I'm not either. If you are buying store bought mayo it's not made with raw eggs. If you have home made mayo then there are raw eggs in it. So you can't have homemade mayo... but I doubt that's what anyone is eating anyway.
So hellmans mayo is totally fine to eat. Umm... potatoes are fine, macaroni is fine, coleslaw is just cabbage right? if so that's fine.
Maybe the cold egg? IDK though. I'm not convinced.
In any event... I make macaroni salad at home. And I eat it and all is fine.
I don't get why this would be a no eat item. Ha! Because it's definitely an eat it item in my book!

of course! I love homemade but I will eat it from a deli or whatnot if the place is busy and it looks like it has not been sitting there for awhile. But I took that precaution when not pregnant too.
