Re: Maclaren Stroller recall
Thanks for posting This. Believe it or not, DH just got his finger pinched closing the stroller yesterday. I dont know if it was this spot they are referring to, but I was like, how could that happen? I have never had a problem and I use it all the time. So I thought it was something maybe he did wrong...but now I realize maybe it is related to this!!! I gotta go ask him where it got pinched.

Re: Maclaren Stroller recall
That is scary that it amputated the tips of several children's fingers.

Re: Maclaren Stroller recall
Thank you for posting! I'll order the hinge cover.
But I don't think I can stop using it. What am I supposed to do, carry around my two 10 month olds everywhere? Where is the hinge that is dangerous?

Re: Maclaren Stroller recall
Do you think you would still use it even with the hinge covers...it just seems like such a severe injury...

Yes.
Honestly I freaked out when I first saw this then I posted over at the StrollerSwap and apparently the injuries were when kids were opening and closing the stroller. Honestly DD is not even close to the stroller when I open and close it so IMO it's a matter of supervision.
Considering there were only 12 injuries in 10 years and over a million Maclaren strollers in use I would not worry too much. Obviously I wouldn't let DD close it and open it herself but I've been using mine for a while and never had a problem.

Well accidents happen and it should not reflect poorly on the parents as a lack of supervision. Children are very fast and get into everything and an accident such as this one happens very quickly. I’m sure all the parents this has happened to put themselves through enough guilt and they do not need people to judge and criticize and label them as bad parents. Bottom line is this type of accident should never have happened 12 times with a baby product that belongs to such a reputable company and it should have not taken them so long to recall the product.
