Maine recommendations
anyone know Maine well? we're trying to book a vacation but aren't sure what to do. we basically want to relax and eat lots of good seafood with some shopping mixed in. we're thinking two days in Boston and five in Boothbay Harbor in Maine. we're wondering:
- will we be bored in Boothbay for a week even with day trips? - should we stay near Portland or Kennebunk for a few days to break the trip up? - Is it stupid to skip Bar Harbor and acadia national park? should we save that for a trip in itself, or is it worth the extra five hours of driving?
any and all help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: Maine recommendations
I personally would skip Portland and go straight to Bar Harbor if I was choosing between the two. Both were awesome but Bar Harbor and Acadia held my interest more.

BAR HARBOR IS GORGEOUS!!!!!
I can't wait to go back. It is a drive, that's for sure - but worth it. Next time, I'm doing it on the cruise!

Re: Maine recommendations
Thanks for the feedback, ladies. We decided to save bar harbor for a future trip, so we could devote more time to it.

Re: Maine recommendations
i know Maine EXTREMELY well as we have a summer place up there & now my family lives there.
Definately skip Portland & Kennebunkport. Boothbay Harbor, Bar Harbor & Camden are your "Best" bets. When are you looking to go? You have to remember that a lot of the "towns" are seasonal, so if you are headed up there in the fall months, you might not get to see all you could in the summer. I highly doubt you will be bored at any point in your trip there.
The food is amazing & you will find a bunch of different spots to enjoy. We always love going to Linconville (right outside of Camden) & eat outside on the water. Such a nice setting.

Re: Maine recommendations
Thanks for the info. We've settled on Ogunquit for two nights and Boothbay for 4 nights. We're going to save Bar Harbor for a separate trip.
