Making sausage & Peppers. Need help, quick!!

Ugh! I'm making s&p for dinner and I just realized I am out of olive oil. I really don't feel like packing up all 3 kids in the car and go to the grocery store. All I have is olive oil pan spray, regular vegetable oil, and coconut oil. Can I use any of these? I always use a little bit of olive oil and I'm not sure if substituting any of these would make it taste any different. Help!! TIA!!!

I always use olive oil but a little coconut oil would work. It's so lightly flavored so I think u would be ok

Or even a little veggie oil

Do u have any white or red cooking wine ? Or lemon juice ?

I usually use olive oil, but you could substitute vegetable oil, I'm sure. Use plenty of garlic and seasoning and I bet you never know the difference.

I always use olive oil too. No I don't have any cooking wine Chat Icon I put a can of diced tomatoes in my s&p so I'm wondering if I just spray the pan so the sausage doesn't stick and between the natural juices from the s&p and the juices from the diced tomatoes it'll be ok. Ugh! I usually ALWAYS have olive oil in the house!

Maybe I'll do this and just use less oil than I normally would. Thanks!!

Are you using pork sausage or chicken/turkey?? If it is pork, it will give off oil anyway so I wouldn't worry too much.

You should be fine this way. I have done it before. If you feel like they peppers and onions aren't softening enough just add a little water.

I would use veggie oil. I always add red sauce to my sausage and peppers so between that and the spices (S&P, oregano, red pepper, garlic, etc) you won't really taste the difference between EVOO and veggie oil.

I *personally* would not go with the coconut oil though, even if it's super lightly flavored it does not pair with Italian food.
