Mama, mommy or mom?

I know that for the most part "mama" is said first, but at what point do you turn into Mommy or mom???

DS still calls me Mama, and everyone refers to me in that way. (ie: "Do you want Mama to hold you?)

A friend of mines child; who just turned one refers to her as mommy. To be honest I found it a little odd- Aside from being impressed with the childs vocabulary, I didn't think you turned into Mommy so early on...







Ehh- maybe its a stupid poll, and I just live in my own little world

I was Mama up until about 2 weeks ago when she started calling me Mommy but she uses both.

I am usually Mommy but for the last two weeks for whatever reason I am meeeeeees.

I love when she says to me:

Meeeees are you hap?



Translation Mommy are you happy?

She usually says this right after she has done something that she knows she is not supposed to do.

He can call me mama if he wants, but I'm trying to always refer to myself as mommy... I dont mind a baby saying mama, but I really dont like to hear adults referring to me as mama, and I correct them when they do it!

My DD just started calling Mommy, actually she kind of says it in a whinny singing way. I love it though. Most of the time I'm Mama. I usually refer to myself as mama too

I like Momma, I hope that sticks. Not a fan of Mommy...I will take it, but prefer Momma.

Everyone always referred to me as "Mommy," but Katherine has always called me Mama--I think all babies do that, right?

Anyhow, just in the last couple of weeks, she's started the transition to "Mommy," but she still says Mama too!

I know she had to have starting calling me Mama, but she has been calling me mommy for a long time. (sometimes I hear it screeching in my nightmares)

Aly has always been funny with this...she only called me MaMa for a few mths and has been calling me Mom now since about 11 mths...except she says it like this "mooooooooom" Id prefer Mommy or even MaMa - but she cant say that yet. I feel like older children call their mother "mom", why is my 16 mth doing this??

I've been Mommy for a few months --- since before the summer I'd say.

SHe calls me Momma once in a while when she's in a "baby" mood and isn't being her normal independent self.

My sister's daughter is only 19 months and she calls her Mom --- which I think is so weird but it's cute at the same time. It sounds more like MUM.

My 3 year old uses Mom most of the time, but I get Mommy too. My 17 month old still uses Mama.

I don't remember when DS went to Mom. But I prefer it to Momma.

My son is 22 mos and uses both Mama and mommy. Usually though it's Mama.

He calls me Mommy...he actually never called me mama.. I always referred to myself as mama, and still do sometimes, but he still calls me mommy.. prob cause it goes along with the "daddy" that he says SO OFTEN!!!!

My 1st son called me mama up until about 4yrs old ever since that I have been mom (he's 9), my second son has been calling me ma for as long as I can remember (he's 2) and my last is saying mama (he's 7.5mos) not sure if it's really for me but I'll take it

Nate has been saying mommy since he was about 20 months. When he's excited or wants my attention, it's sounds more like mommeeeeeeeeeeee!

I've been mommy for a long time. At least a year.

Ryan has benn calling me Mommy for a long time (I think he was 19 or 20 months) I like Mommy. He had a hard time saying Grandma so he was calling my Mother mama and it kinda stuck. I think it's so cute. However I wouldn't think it was cute if he called my nasty MIL MaMa. But he doesn't call her anything because he really doesn't know her. I can count on one hand how many times she has seen him and no she does not live out of state!

My eldest daughter has never called me anything other than MOM..even as a very young child!!!!

The twins were talking early..(6 months!) and they were refering to me as Mommy by a year. BUT to this day they will still call me MAMA when they want to snuggle.
