Manorville Eastport Area
Need all Positive and Negative feedback on the area. Coming from the Country this wouldnt be as drastic of a change and it makes sense I guess.
But is it worth it? :)

Re: Manorville Eastport Area
Two of my friends at work live out there and love it. It's not super busy and they're close to Center Moriches which seems to be a nice town.

Re: Manorville Eastport Area
We live in the area and love it.
Manorville is part of Eastport-South Manor schools. The kids either go to the South Manor schools which are South Street/Dayton Ave/ESM high or Eastport sections goes to Eastport elementary/Dayton ave/ ESM high. The general consesus is that Eastport elementary is a tiny bit better, and their PTA is much better than South Street's.
The high school is new and huge. Good parent involvement, although there is a little bit of a snotty attitude to some people and I have run into snobs in the PTA.
The only real shopping center in Manorville is with King Kullen. You are really close to the LIE, outlets, hamtons and north fork.
If you have any questions about specific areas in Manorville FM me

Re: Manorville Eastport Area
DH & I live out there and love it. We're renting right now, no kids...but when we are ready to buy a house, DH insists on staying out there.
The only thing that stinks is that you have to drive 15-20 min to get to the supermarket/shopping.... We're originally from Selden & I'm so used to the supermarkets being right around the corner

I grew up in Center Moriches. My parents still live out there. If you want a nice small town feel, it's great!!

Re: Manorville Eastport Area
We are only secounds from the supermarket but live in the country. Everything is becoming an hour drive for me now.
My sons pre-school, whole foods, trader joes, and even dr appointments. We are getting an estimate tomorrow and if we go further it will have to be Eastport Schools.
Yes today I noticed when driving down long road I think its called that, its around the corner from Eastport king kullen.
But the highway was right there however the darn house I saw was 509,000 alittle high.

Re: Manorville Eastport Area
I have only one question. Where do you travel to work every day? If you are traveling further than Route 110, in the Melville area (exit 49 on the LIE). You will burn yourself out in 2 to 3 years, even if you like driving. Plus the price of gas is unstable so you have additional expenses. If you work out east it is a great area.
Good Luck, Arthur

Re: Manorville Eastport Area
We went to Center Moriches today its very pretty. However I just found East Moriches with great schools and a option to chose a high school.
Hopefully that part is correct. lol If it is and East Moriches checks out that will be the area if we decied to move.
Any input on East Moriches/Center Moriches?

Re: Manorville Eastport Area
Center Moriches is ok, just stay south of Montauk. If you move there go for the Holiday beach area.
East Moriches is nice but expensive. There isn't much out there for 400k and under. And while they do have a choice of high school now, I've heard that may end soon and they may join with Center Moriches. When my parents moved to the South Manor district there was a choice of high school too, and then they merged with Eastport.
East Moriches would not be as expensive without the choice of high school, so that is something to keep in mind.

Re: Manorville Eastport Area
All the areas (East Moriches / Center Moriches / Eastport-Manorville) are great...they all have different attributes, and all have good school districts.
Center Moriches is a great little town...Main Street has a bunch of cute, quaint shops and a very "local" feel to it. There are also Two supermarkets / shopping centers right near town. The areas south of Montauk are "better" aka, less traffic-y / commercial. It is near the water, and there are always community events. Taxes are moderate, and there are some good deals to have. The school district is good, extra curriculars are probably not as diverse as some other schools, but they are ever-expanding.
East Moriches - very quiet, quaint town. A Small "main street" with a few shops. Supermarkets are in neighboring towns, but only a 5 minute drive. Areas of homes are kind of "good", "better", "best"...a few areas are a little "transient", some are nice, and some are "mc-mansion-y", right on the water. Houses are moderate - high priced and taxes are HIGH!!! Best feature - the choice of high school...Westhampton, Center Moriches or Eastport South Manor. However, as someone mentioned, there have been studies and discussions of a merger with Center Moriches, because the taxes are making the town un-affordable...still would be good schools, great area and taxes would come down.
Eastport - Again, a quaint town, a small "Main Street", some areas are a bit more "run down", some areas are super pricey. Easport Elementary school, and Eastport/South Manor high school. Houses for sale seem to be few and far between, taxes are average.
Manorville - Very quiet town, only one shopping center, lots of farms / housing developments, lots of families. One of two elementary schools and Eastpot/South Manor High School. Good education, decent extra curricular activities, sports, etc. Lots of community events. Houses are moderate to High priced...Taxes are HIGH.
You might also consider Westhampton. It is one more exit on the Sunrise, and there are some quaint houses (there are McMansions too) that put you in a great school district with lots of community events and tons of extra-curricular activities...and your taxes will be MUCH lower...
Good luck!

Re: Manorville Eastport Area
i work in manorville & am always driving around to the surrounding areas... i dont know anything about the SD, but the areas themselves are great!
i would agree that the only downfall is having to drive 15-20 mins to get to a shopping center.. like a target or old navy
