Martial Arts / Karate Classes - how much do you pay?

I signed DS (4yo) up for a 6 week trial session of MMA last weekend. He had his evaluation yesterday and I think it's something he's going to love.

Here's the problem...

The 6 week session + uniform was $69. Awesome, right? Yeah, except then they want $159/MONTH after! Please tell me that this is not the norm! We're going to go ahead with the 6 week session - especially since I already paid for it Chat Icon, but seriously - he's FOUR Chat Icon That seems so utterly insane to me (especially after I found out it's the same amount as the adult monthly fee!).

So, is this how much karate/MMA costs for kids? Or is this as crazy as I think it is?

Also, if anyone can recommend one near Lynbrook that does 4yos I'd appreciate it.

i have been getting donations for my DSs school auction and every karate place that has donated, their monthly fees were $150 and up (i got monthly gift certificates from the Bellmore/Merrick/Wantagh area)

so it seems about right

Re: Martial Arts / Karate Classes - how much do you pay?

I recently looked into 3 places (Levittown/Wantagh/Bethpage) and they were...

$147/month
$130/month
$280 for 3 months, their smallest "package" deal

I decided that we just can't afford it. She already does dance and that's $45/month. So we are looking into soccer, cheer and a few other activities through local groups that are less expensive.

I wish Karate weren't so pricey because I think it would have been a great activity for her to do!
