It's a heck of a lot more difficult to adopt a healthy American born infant than it is to adopt a foreign born baby. There aren't nearly as many American infants up for adoption as there are in foreign orphanages etc.

oh yes there are, you just have to know the how to and with their money its no problem. I personally think its for publicity- hate to say it but Angelina Jolie adopted from Africa, then Madonna wanted/did and now Mary Louise Parker.
there are MANY MANY AMERICAN babies that need homes and that are given up for adoption!

I can not imagine having anything other then positive things to say about anyone who adopts any age child from anywhere on this earth.

Its easy to sit back and judge ages and nationalities...if you feel so strongly about adopting in America, then go adopt an American baby. Babies are babies no matter where they are born and they all deserve an equal chance at having a happy home.

I believe there are many American toddlers and children who need homes, but healthy American newborns? I thought not so much.

Anyway, I agree it seems like an Angelina-esque move. In any case, it's nice that she's given a home to a child who needs it.

Again, nobody gave Mia Farrow a problem when she adopted kids from all over the world many of whom had MULTIPLE disabilities. Leave this woman alone and let her enjoy her child. A child is a blessing no matter where they come from.

Re: Mary-Louise Parker & her newly adopted African daughter

None of us are saying its a bad thing or that this or any child doesnt deserve a good life-

its a good point.
why arent these celebs adopting from America? Its a legitimate question.

there are many many poor people unfortunately right here in this country with young teen girls having babies like crazy b/c that is all they know. It is just not as publiczied as in other countries but infants/newborns they are out there.

I have a close friend trying to adopt an infant from America right now.

It is not an easy process in the least to get a baby. They've been told to prepare to wait for YEARS.
