If you have hardwood in the master already would you ever consider carpeting it?

Hardwood with an area rug. Best of both worlds

Re: master bedroom-carpet or hardwood?

I have wood floors in some of the bedrooms (DS's, for example), but for the master, we put carpet over the wood. I love hardwood, and we have it in our house, but we just wanted carpet for the master.

Usually laying carpet over wood floors doesn't damage the wood (the way glueing tile or something like that would). The previous owners had the first floor carpeted, and we ripped up the carpet and refinished the floors, and they look great.

I think it's just personal taste. A lot of people seem to like carpet in a bedroom, but I agree that a large area rug can provide the same benefits as wall-to-wall. Plus, I know some people don't like carpet at all for allergies and that type of thing.

My preference for a bedroom is carpet...love the feeling of it, especially thick soft carpet.

THIS. The house we bought had carpet in master with no hard wood underneath but we ended up putting it in. I prefer the look. But definitely an area rug under the bed!

Re: master bedroom-carpet or hardwood?

I like carpeting for a bedroom. It makes it feel cozier to me. That said, we currently live in an apartment with carpeting in the bedrooms and unfortunately it does not work with 4 boys. We are about to start a remodel and are replacing the parquet floors throughout with wide oak and have decided to do the bedrooms as well even though it will add to the cost. I will do large area rugs in the bedrooms so that I can take them up to clean periodically.

I prefer hardwood. We ripped up the carpet in the bedrooms when we moved in and there was hardwood underneath that we refinished.

Either or. They both can look nice....But personally, I prefer hardwood. To me Carpets = Dust. Doesn't matter how much I vacuum. But, I also have very bad allergies!!!

master bedroom-carpet or hardwood?

we have carpet (over hardwoods) in the master only. all other rooms are hardwoods. we went back and forth about it, and decided we personally prefer carpet. we can always pull it up down the road and use area rugs if we change our minds.

i would go with personal preference.
